A Glimpse of World Aroma Expo 2026: The Maha Kumbh of the Aroma Industry

The World Aroma Ingredients Congress and Expo 2026were organized by the Essential Oil Association of India (EOAI) from 16–18 March 2026 at Fairmont Hotel, Mumbai, bringing together key players from the essential oils, fragrance, flavour, and allied industries.

Based on the theme “Scents and Tastes of Tomorrow: India’s Innovation in Essential Oils and Aroma Chemicals,” the event provided a dynamic platform for industry leaders, manufacturers, exporters, researchers, and international delegates to exchange knowledge, understand innovations, and strengthen global partnerships.

Highlighting the significance of the event, EOAI stated that Mumbai is rapidly emerging as a global hub for the aroma industry, with growing demand for essential oils, fragrances, and flavour ingredients across multiple sectors. The association also noted that the industry is expanding rapidly beyond traditional applications into perfumery, cosmetics, Ayurveda, food processing, and wellness.

The event witnessed active participation from companies associated with essential oils, fragrance compounds, flavour ingredients, aroma chemicals, incense, cosmetics, and allied sectors. The exhibition area showcased a broad spectrum of products and innovations, reflecting the evolving landscape of the aroma industry.

The congress proved to be a vibrant platform for industry professionals to build networks, explore collaboration opportunities, and understand emerging possibilities in the global aroma ingredients market. The exhibition featured a diverse range of essential oils, aroma chemicals, fragrance compounds, incense products, and raw materials.

Industry-Academia Collaboration Emerged as a Key Highlight

One of the major highlights of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Essential Oil Association of India (EOAI) and IIT Indore, marking an important step toward strengthening research, innovation, and skill development in the aroma sector.

The collaboration aims to promote the development of aroma chemicals, fragrance, and flavour ingredients through advanced research and technical expertise. As part of this initiative, plans are also underway to establish a dedicated Perfumery Training Institute at IIT Indore, which will help develop skilled professionals and bridge the gap between industry requirements and academic knowledge.

This strategic partnership reflects the growing focus on innovation, education, and long-term capacity building in the industry, further strengthening India’s journey toward global leadership in aroma ingredients and fragrances.

EOAI also emphasized that the Indian aroma industry is playing a significant role in employment generation and export growth, making it an important contributor to the country’s economic progress. With rising global demand and increasing emphasis on natural and sustainable products, India is strengthening its presence in the international aroma ingredients market.

The event also reflected the growing synergy between essential oils, fragrance houses, and industries such as cosmetics, Ayurveda, food processing, wellness, incense, and pan masala, with strong participation from leading companies and key stakeholders.
