Building a Distinct Identity Across India Through Quality, Tradition, and Innovation
Whenever the Gulkand industry in India is discussed, one of the first prominent names that comes to mind is Natraj Food Products. Carrying the fragrance of Pushkar’s roses across India and international markets, the group has built a unique identity through years of hard work, quality, and trust.
According to Mr. Manish Arora, Director of Natraj Products, their real competition is not with any other brand, but with the quality standards established by Natraj itself. He believes that quality is the strongest foundation for long-term success in the market.
“We neither compromise on quality nor get into the race of increasing volumes under competitive pressure. That itself is our biggest USP,” he says.
Today, the group’s flagship brand, “Kohinoor Gulkand,” is considered one of the most popular Gulkand brands in the country. Its presence extends from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kolkata to Coimbatore. The brand has distributors in almost every major city and district of India. It enjoys strong demand across Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and the southern states.
Mr. Anand Prakash Arora, the head of the Natraj Group, explains that the business has been associated with their family for several generations. Their firm, “Champalal Balaprasad Khatatri,” is believed to be around 300–350 years old, and multiple generations of the family have been involved in the tobacco trade. In 1995, the group entered the Gulkand business. At that time, Gulkand was primarily sourced from Kannauj, but today Ajmer and Pushkar have emerged as major supply hubs for Gulkand across the country.
The biggest reason behind the popularity of Kohinoor Gulkand is believed to be its quality and purity. Natraj Group’s production facility is located in Pushkar, Rajasthan — a pilgrimage town famous for its high-quality roses. The company itself cultivates roses on several acres of land. Manish Arora explains that the fragrance and quality of Pushkar roses are distinctly different from those grown in other regions, and this directly impacts the taste and quality of the Gulkand.
